Senior Tag? Not It!

It’s that time of year again. Senior tag is underway in Dublin, and we want to talk about safety.

While it may begin as a friendly competition among high school seniors using squirt guns or Nerf-style toys, it doesn’t always stay that way. Historically, these activities have led to reckless driving, trespassing and other unsafe or illegal behavior that puts students and residents at risk. Senior tag is not school-sponsored and is not approved by law enforcement.

School administrators and School Resource Officers are working together to address these concerns. All three Dublin high school principals have spoken directly with their senior classes to ensure students understand the risks and potential consequences. Any criminal behavior may result in police involvement.

We encourage parents to talk with their students about making safe, responsible choices and to discourage participation in these activities.

Residents who observe unsafe or illegal activity are encouraged to contact Dublin Police at their non-emergency line: 614.889.1112.
